The Apothecary Review & Teaser Tuesday

The Apothecary by Samantha Jillian Bayarr

I enjoyed this book. It is a quick read and perhaps because it is a quick read some things did have a rushed feel. However that did not take away from my enjoyment. We open with Claire dealing with her mother's death. We find out her mother was raised in an orphanage and basically raised Claire by herself. Claire meets a young man at her mother's funeral and he informs her he is a lawyer who needs to speak with her about her mother's estate. And so begins Claire's mystery of who her mother was. During this time Claire is dreaming of a child named Amelia. She shares this with her best friend Emily. They have no idea who Amelia is or why she is coming to Claire in her dreams. Then Claire finds out she has inherited property, (a manor house, a cottage and the orphanage where her mother grew up), and that the manor is said to be haunted. In her search for her mother's family and the property history, Claire learns there was a child named Amelia who died in the house. The part that felt a bit rushed was the romance which takes up much of the middle of the book. Claire and the lawyer have what can be described as a rushed relationship that concludes in a rapid marriage and instant family. However as I said it really did not deter my enjoyment of the book. I think those who enjoy paranormal romances with a bit of history will enjoy this.

* I reviewed this by author request. No compensation was offered or received. No promise of a good review was given. The opinion expressed is my honest feelings regarding this book.*

The Choice, Book One of The Walk the Right Road Series, a romantic mystical suspense

“I love you.” Panicked she felt some part of him slip away. His body, his eyes, everything about him seemed to take a step back, from her. As if he held some part of himself in a secret location, and forgot to tell her he left. He hovered a few inches away, gazing out the front window, resting his other arm over the steering wheel. But the arm her hand grasped, he didn’t once try to pull away.

"You tell me, Noa'le," Farida said."How could I have given a twenty-year old girl, a girl who didn't know anything about life, her dead mother's diary? You weren't mature enough;you weren't ready.Even without the diary it wasn't easy for you. To read personal things - confusing things- about one's mother would be hard enough- but for a daughter whose mother had just died?"
